Welcome to the Institute of Women, Gender and Development Studies
The Institute of Women, Gender and Development Studies (IWoGDS) is a leading centre of excellence and innovation in the field of Women, Gender and Development Studies. It is a multidisciplinary academic and research unit which partners with Government institutions, NGOs and corporate bodies in the area of research, capacity building and knowledge-driven advocacy. The Institute runs conferences on topical gender issues; and observes UN celebrations that promote gender equality, girl-child education, elimination of violence against women and girls, etc. As part of our mentorship programme, we organize interactive sessions with our students where we discuss topical issues such as Sex Education, Drug Abuse, Cultism, Internet Fraud, etc.

To be the foremost centre of excellence for teaching, training, research and interdisciplinary study of women, gender and development issues.
Our Mission
The mission of IWoGDS is to promote quality academic study on gender and development programmes through extensive course offerings across disciplines. The Institute shall embark on projects that address gender equality in the economical, social and political arenas. It will also promote gender equality in the areas of Gender Based Violence, Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS.
